Brahmanandam

Brahmanandam hails from a great music lineage that can be traced to the great Saint Thyagaraja. Her father, Shri. V.R. Gopala Iyer, was a master of several instruments and a fine teacher. He could inculcate in his children, not only the love for the art, but also a passion that has taken them to legendary heights. She is one of the sisters of the world renowned violin maestro Lalgudi Shri. G. Jayaraman, with whom she has shared the stage for over two decades, very early in her stellar career. She is a soloist of great merit, a composer, and a very busy teacher. Few stalwarts can render an intricate Ragam Thanam Pallavi with effortless ease like Srimathi -showering cascades of varied "swara raga prayogas" soaked in pure melody and interlaced with unerring rhythm. Srimathi delivers fluidly without resorting to unorthodox deviations in her music. With her lofty flights of imagination she can take the discerning listener to musical heights of undiluted delight.
