Abhishek Raghuramran

He has a rich heritage. He hails from a musical family, the grandson of none other than Sangeetha Kalanidhi Shri Palakkad Raghu, the eminent mridanga vidwan on the paternal side and the grandson of Lalgudi Rajalakshmi on the maternal side. Abhishek started his Carnatic music training first on the mridangam, from his grandfather. This certainly fostered an early sense of rhythm and its intricacies in him. Following this, he started to take vocal lessons from Padma Bhushan Sangeetha Kala Acharya Shri. P.S.Narayanaswamy. Abhishek is a proficient Kanjira performer as well, having had the honor of learning under a genius of our times, the late Shri G. Harishankar and has accompanied alongside mridangam maestros like his grandfather and other stalwarts. He gave his first performance at age nine and is already a recipient of many awards at this young age.
