ORIGIN OF THE CARNATIC MUSIC
Carnatic Music or Carnatic Sangeet is a style of music that is associated with South India. It is an art form developed right from Prehistoric times during Vedic Age. It is considered as a fine art and as a musical form of Indian origin. Saint Purandara Dasa is called Pitamaha of Carnatic Music. The Trinity - Saint Thiyagaraja, Muthuswami Dikshitar and Shyama Shashtri are accepted as Father of Carnatic Music. They composed thousands of Padas. Because their compositions were properly notated and they had good followers and also had support of Tanjavoor Kings and others. Therefore they are widely followed. The word Classical music was accepted in 20th century when different musical styles and form were classified by the Radio for the sake of programmes. The source of classical music is the SAMA Veda and it was considered as GANDHARVA VIDYA. Sri Purandaradasa, saint from Karnataka is considered as the Father of Carnatic Music for he is supposed to have formatted the Carnatic style of Music into
